Hello my friends!
Recently I was getting back to my photos from the trip to Bulgaria in 2003. It's such an interesting country. Especially Pirin Mountains, high, wild and beautiful... The highest peak - Vihren is 2914 m asl, however it's easily accessible. Anyway, the main beauty of Pirin are hundreds of alpine lakes (one of them I showed here) and postglacial relief of the mountains...

The place I'm showing you today is located in Northern Pirin and it's a part of the Pirin National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and encompasses the larger part of the Pirin Mountains in the southwest of Bulgaria. It has an area of 274 km² and lies at an altitude from 1,008 to 2,914 m.

All what you see on the photo is protected as a nature reserve "Yulen". It includes a valley with alpine lakes and surrounding mountains. The valley is exactly ahead and down, but you may see these monumental mountains.

The two peaks on the right are Vasilashki Cukar (2615 m asl) and Vzelia (2620 m asl), those on the left covered by clouds are Goljam Tipic (2645 m asl) and Goljamata Strana (2644 m asl).
The picture was taken while being on a margin of Vasilashki Cirkus at 2200 m asl.

We came there with a hiking trail from mountain shelter Vihren and followed it down the valley to shelter Demjanica, from where, next day, we hiked the route back to our base in nearby town of Bansko.

If you follow the path from the lower right corner of the photo you will find a person, who may give an idea of the view's scale.

This whole three day hiking in Pirin was a wonderful experience, mainly for the views, as you may estimate yourself...

But there was also another thing - a good company. We made this hiking in group of six people. One of them was my friend and TNer Krzysztof (cataclysta), who is now preparing for soon departure to Antarctica, and to whom I would like to dedicate this shot.

The picture is a panorama consisting of two shots taken with the same parameters and assembled in Panorama Maker.

Hi Michal,
This a good panaroma with a very good DOF and POV showing a beautiful mountain view. TFS
Selen

It looks a wonderful area to walk in and the small person helps to give scale to the picture. I feel it just needs a touch more of the lower part of the picture, few more mm only to be spot on on the composition.

Nicely done and TFS

Hello Michal,
Great mountain vista with attractive contrast between the earth and the sky. Keeping the person in black was a good idea, as you say. I really like this kind of photos. Well done.
Best wishes,
Hakan

Hi Michal.
Excellent landscape picture. Your POV is perfect. From selected point amazing view is opened in front of us. Colours are very nice too as well as the sharpness and details of the whole image. Skillfully done picture. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.

Hi Michal,
Fantastic landscape. High, wild and beautiful. you described perfectly the atmosphere from this photo. I like the light fall, and the view on these naked mountains. It is never boring, and it is every time surprising and different, to see your mountain pictures. I like it a lot.
Well done.
Regards, Ruud

Not only a beautiful photo but a most interesting note with all those links you offered. MAkes me want to visit :)

Hello Cedryk,
A part of your story that I've missed! It is fascinating to discover these areas about which we hear so little. Very interesting story as usual and I like your excellent capture of this beautiful mountain landscape taken from a very nice viewpoint.
Nice depth of focus and lovely soft colours.
Excellent composition!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hello Michal,
very impressing and inviting presentation of a mountain region most of us never have been to. I like the rich spectre of colours, and the thick clouds lifting out of the valley. Must be a magnificent place for hiking and taking pictures.
I also liked the link to the image with the blue lake very much. Very good picture report to give an intense impression of these mountains in Bulgaria.
With thanks, and best regards,
Peter
