Gleditsia is a genus of locust trees in the family Fabaceae, subfamily Caesalpinioideae, native to North America. The latin name commemorates Gottlieb Gleditsch, director of the Berlin Botanical Gardens, who died in 1786.
Gleditsia has easily acclimatized in our climate, and now it can be met both in streets and in parks.
The trunk is covered by greater prickles, up to 15-20 sm in length. Good honey plant. Wood valuable to underwater and underground constructions
On a trunk any mushrooms grow, but I do not know them. |
