Here is waht I would suggest < and demo herewith >:

1) do a bit more of 1/3 , 1/3 , 1/3... by removing some of the lower water.
2) wee sharpening
3) adjust colour and contrast
4) wee saturation...

What say you?

a) level the water via a small "roll"
< it will put the reflections plumb below the avocet >
b) adjust sharpness, contrast and colour
c) crop such to get a kinda line from the lower right to upper left, with the reeds, the beak and tail...

Hi Kevin, in this workshop I mainly wanted to bring in more light to the head and under the wing. To do this I applied an overlay layer and with a 5% opaque white brush I just kept painting those areas until I had the light I wanted, especially around the eye. For the repost I sharpened very lightly. I hope this meets with your approval. I have removed the copy from my terminal.

Noise Reduction/Contrast

Used Neat Image to filter out noise. Adjusted the contrast and sharpened slightly using HP Photo Printing program.

Alternate Presentation

1) trim some of the out off focus water;
producing ore of a panorama like setting
2) rotate slightly; I felt the water was out of kilter a wee...
3) sharpen
4) adjust colout and contrast.

My aim in the composition was to have the ducks as follows: diagonal line from LL to UR; female almost on it, and splitting the pair of males...
