| Intro: | Two Allen's hummingbird chicks, photo taken seconds before the one on the left fledged from the tall tree in my yard, a couple hours later following the stressful call of that same chick, and frantic flying and calling from the mother, I searched and finally found the chick sitting on a leaf of Scented Geranium, I tried to pick it up, but those tiny fragile looking claws kept holding on tight to the leaf, I had to take the leaf with the chick on top, and before putting it back to the tiny nest, I carefully tore off the leaf around the claw, to avoid touching and damaging the claw, a thin ring of leaf was left on the claw. |
