Born in the UK, I have lived for half my life in Italy, currently in a small town in the Po valley close to the feet of the Apennine mountains. I'm a freelance translator, working from Italian (and occasionally French and Spanish) into English. This means that I spend a lot of time in front of my computer and not nearly as much time as I would like out in the hills :o(
I've always been interested in photography but began taking more serious nature and landscape shots in the early 1990s following the purchase of a Nikon FM and soon afterwards an F3.
Many of my photos are from the Apennine mountains, while others were taken on trips to various places such as the Aeolian islands off the coast of Sicily, the Canary Islands and most recently Iceland.
Until this year I used exclusively 35 mm slide film (Velvia with a Nikon F4) and a Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 scanner, but recently switched to digital with a Nikon D200.
I'm currently exploring the potential of digital captures and working on PP techniques.
Besides photography, my other interests include travelling, hiking, botany, climbing, cinema and languages. I'm also a keen cyclist and am planning a return trip to Iceland by bike in 2008 or 2009.
All comments and critiques are gratefully received.
