Here is the next frame. We were very lucky to see this as the rest of the lions were pretty static just soaking up the sun!

1 - I cloned out the antlers in the background. Digital manipulation is not allowed on TN but in case of minor changes they are. I'm not sure if this is minor enough. Anyway I didn't post this to say you should have done it, but to show that the other animals behind are slightly disturbing. I'm not a wizard in deers, but I think that in the wild fully grown males don't accept each other. Those antlers behind show a little too much that this is a pic in captivity.

2 - I reduced a little the irrelevant area on the left.

Hope you like.

Followed Jose comment that he would prefer to see more of the bird. Hence I have cropped and used clone stamp to remove distracting twig which was on the left of shot.
Thanks for looking

Followed Paul's advice and did the same processes he did this time with the original. Hope you can see the improvement.
Thanks for the workshop, I've learnt a few valuable lessons!

Hi Simon,
Main change here is the crop. I've paced the bird to the left of the frame, giving a bit more space to the right...allows the image to "breathe"a little. Limited by pixels here...your original may well be able to be better cropped.

PP work.

ISSUE 1 - Improve feather detail. Set black and white points for image using a levels adjustment layer.
- Applied shadow/hight tool to shadows at 20% the pull detail from the plumage in shaod on the birds chest.
- then improved eye definition - slected eye using lasso tool and feathered by 3 pixels. Created a cuvers adjustment layer. Didn't touch the curve settings but did changethe blend mode of the layer to "Screen" this gave good eye edge definition.
ISSUE Sharpness - Ran PKSharpner Pro for 800pixel wide image with Medium sharpening.
- flattened image
- converted to sRGB space and the upload to web.
Hope this of use...if so can you please mark as useful..trying to get my gold WS status :o)
Cheers
Paul

Hi SImon,
This is based on your workshop posting. I've extracted a bit more detail again. Amazing to see what is lurking in those pixels. Two pass approach.
1. Use Shadow/highlight tool in PS CS2 in advanced mode. Set the shadow percent value to about 40%. This pulled of the shadow detail in the dark areas of the swan.
2. Enhanced eye detail via a curves layers. Used the lasso tool to select around the eye. Created a cureves layer with a mask based on the selection. Set the curve layer balnd mode to "screen" reuduced opacity of the layer to about 60-80%.
Hope this looks okay to you.
Cheers
Paul

Hadn't applied any PP to original post, this one works better for me, I prefer it a tad brighter and sharper! Let me know your thoughts...
