Be careful, now a lot of compact cameras make noise, the cellulars are too small...
The famous Panasonic FZ20 and FZ30 have stabilizer but are noisy too.
Don't forget that in the S9500 the lens is more polyvalent with 28-300mm equiv, the other competitors start at only 35mm !!!
If you don't want noise, look at the Canon EOS 350D + Sigma 17-70mm macro, no trouble but more expensive.
Also, if you can wait, have a look in September to the new Fugifilm S6500, it will have a correct size cellular of 1/1.7" for 6 Mpixels, a new efficient processor, the 28-300mm lens, a nice look and a soft price.
On paper it seems perfect and perhaps with a better cellular ratio size/pixels the noise must be reduced compare to the S9500 with only 1/1.8" for 9 Mpix. Wait and see the tests...
