They were introduced in Louisiana for fur but also as a way to control vegetatation in the waterways...Without natural preditation their numbers grew until today they are everywhere...That is not it's tongue but it's teeth, just like a beaver...They are docile and have never heard of one attacking a human...This one I photographed swimming with another one in a small pond just off Galveston Bay...Thanks for the critique...Jim United States
