I have noticed a conspicuous slowing down of activity here and was shocked, when I looked back, to see that some members for whose photographic capabilities and achievements I have great admiration have not posted images here for a long time. It seems they may have just left without a word and it is sad. Are the members here gravitating away to Facebook, for example, where they can also upload photo's? Surely not, as the two sites serve different purposes. Or are members being "driven" away here by the presence of an arrogant irritant as one member, an excellent photographer, who just walked out seems to have intimated to me? Or are we just in a low of a cyclic phenomenon? The last possibility seems rather unlikely and probably is a sentimental attempt at rationalising by me.

This site has not lost its purpose but I think the administrators should take a hard look at what the cause(s) of its ailments, if any, might be. At the same time I do not believe it will grind to a halt. It serves too valuable a purpose.

lack of honesty and intolerance towards outright opinion is the major problem here, and in parallel with that the inability of the moderators to implement some kind of brakes for all that nonsense ... so called back patting will eventually drain away the little motivation still remaining around. After all ... my calls for a change in the past hasn't been so baseless, Neels ... O!!! ..and by the way, I like that part of your statement above " ....an excellent photographer ..." .. the rest tastes like a soup of rice poured on a driveway ...

Who has "lack of honesty"? I disagree with most of what you say and if I were so critical of the moderators I would have left, so why do you stay? If the shoe fits you, wear it, and if it "...tastes like a soup of rice poured on a driveway ...", taste it. He certainly is an excellent photographer, so what is your problem about that? But this is not about little Velcro. It is about concern for the welfare of the TN site.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Was just remembering when i first started; (look at my first blurry dragonfly) Oh i had passion..and a cheap camera. LOL Cohorts here were VERY patient AND encouraging. Started my first digital camera fund, (and now saving for my first UPGRADE) hehe I am TOTALLY stoked about this site (it is the best by the way)

Maybe its the "economic" sign of the times.

Hi Neels
I just started posting back to the site about 3 weeks ago after being absent for maybe 1 year and 1/2.My situation was mainly related to new software and equipments upgrade I also want it to rebuild my bank of subject in realty I want it to post something different in regard of techniques then what I used to post so I took more then a year off to practice with new equipments and I also did spend a lot of time on in flight training photography and other techniques.
I also did notice then for the past 2 years a major decrease in bird photographer in the field maybe the even of numeric photography is coming back to is real level also note that I'm seeing the same decrease in other site .

I still post from time to time but nothing like every day before I contracted Guillain Barre. I sold my car and can only go short distances hence fewer picture opportunities. I think this is a fascinating site and wold be greatly saddened if it ever disappeared.
