I have one and recall reading in the instuctions that when shooting outdoors the distance that it works over is greatly feduced as there are no walls to deflect the signal off They also recommended turning the base of the flash around so the infra red is pointing towards the ste2. If your doing all this I have no other suggestions I'm afraid
