Thanks for that - puts things into a bit more context, though I still find the comment 'flowers are arty and insects are factual' a bit strange, but I do understand where you are comming from.

I used to live quite close to Kew Gardens and spent many a summer day hanging out by the river. My best friend used to work for the Royal Horticultural Society, if we lived in the same country I would have asked her what the pictures were of, but really appreciate that Robert actually passed the details on of what I was looking at. I really ought to get beyond organic/inorganic as the level of differentiation I can apply to objects in the world.

Keep up the good nature shots - I am learning a lot, which is what this is all about.

NB This isn't a macro lens as such, just a standard 50mm lens with a 25mm extension tube, shouldn't cost a lot for your camera (
