I have more information in my previous post Shades Of Christmas. But here is some of that for you. Scientific name Ceratopetalum Gummiferum
New South Wales Christmas Bush.(Ceratopetalum Gummiferum) This is a glorious Australian native tree. it has masses of creamy-white Spring flowers with bracts becoming larger and brilliant red by Christmas. Small serrated leaves are bronze pink when young.
This photo shows an example of the flowers and bracts early in the season.
Perhaps you can search for it on the internet.
This is a good site http://asgap.org.au/c-gumm.html The photos here of the close up flowers are just about life size. I live at the northern tip of the red part on the Australian map here.
This particular tree is about 20 years old and has been pruned a number of times with a chainsaw... My father is a strong believer in heavy pruning. The tree itself never looks back.
