As I mention, there is risk in going in the afternoon. As it could be cloudy and you may see nothing at all. There is somehting magical about being there at sunrise as well, perhaps event something spiritual and the experience.
We only had one evening here and the next morning. Most go to the Base Camp in the afternoon and go up to Kala Pathar in the morning, we pay attention to the weather and by 2 o'clock it was still very clear, so we decided to see it at sunset. I would have like to see it as sunrise too, but not enough time and to hike up Kala Pathar again the next day, that would just kill me :)
