Thank You Biswarup, for your kind remarks about my photos.
I'm glad you think my images are beautiful, because this is always my goal when photographing nature. I used to try and post almost every day when I first joined TN. I was amazed at the quality of photos some of the more experienced members were sharing and wondered why mine didn't have the same quality.
I asked an older member one day why his images were always exceptional and mine were just OK, he laughed and said he only posts his best shots. From that point on I didn't worry about posting every day, or even every week. There are sometimes I only post once every few weeks, but I always post the best shots I can come up with. For every image I post there are usually 50 to 60 that I delete because they are just not up to the quality I like. At one point I had something like 17,000 photos collected in my picture archive and out of these I have posted only 617 here on TN.
I try and use the best lenses I can afford and the same goes for my camera and tripod. I spend a lot of time hidden in a blind just waiting for just the right shot. I continually take sample shots throughout the day as the light changes just to make sure the exposure will be correct when a bird finally shows up. I also am very conscious as to making sure I click the shutter smoothly and not with a quick jerk, this does wonders in keeping the images sharp.
In this particular shot I already had the camera set up on the rotting stump. I knew from experience that a lot of the birds in my back yard use this spot as a perch. A lot patience and continually checking focus and exposure has paid off nicely for me for quite some time now.
Thanks again Biswarup, for your nice comments,
Ron
