Thank you for your comments on my first posting on TN. The picture was taken on an evening safari drive and this cheetah was spotted in some grass. With the camera set on "Auto" so that I didn't have to think about exposure settings - the lens set at the 300mm mark I managed to take about 10 shots of this animal before it move off.
I will as you suggest add more details to future postings.
