|The time of day is included in the more photo information: I took a quick look just now. I knew it was close to noon but had to laught ot see that it was 11:58.
However, at that time of year the sun here comes at quite an angle so there are still good shadows.
As to the red tips: swamp cedar has very reddish tips in the winter. It's much prettier closeup than at a distance.
And about the poachers: about a decade ago (when I had a house etc) we had a terrible spate of tree poachers in November and early December. Folks with mature evergreens woke up in the morning to find that their carefully tended ornamentals had been stolen during the night. Around the corner from us, in Oakville, the perfect blue spruce vanished off the front lawn!
