I'm really very sorry for my much to late reply to your question, but at one or the other way I did overlook it.
Usually I do use ISO 400 speed rating when photographing birds in flight and also when shooting statics with low light surcomstance.
Only when the light is very bright, like it often happens in Alaska, I tend to use a lower ISO speed rating like 200 or sometimes even 100.
