This year we made sure to book a proper vacation at the park. A full 21 days of bliss and enjoyment while we "loose" ourselves and forgot about civilization and all the other pressing issues of normal life. We wanted to make sure we got enough (if ever that is really possible).... (full story) (9 photos)

The Kruger National Park is one of the most unspoilt natural eco-systems left in Southern Africa. It is always exciting to see the Big 5: Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Rhino & Buffalo, but don't overlook the other Big 5: Giraffe, Hippo, Cheetah, Wild Dog & Hyena, which make up our Big 10.... At least once a year, we spend more than just a few days in the park. This was it for 2004.
Leaving the tent at home, we were going to enjoy Kruger the tourist way. Sleeping in bungalows and guesthouses, this would be Nalani's first wildlife adventure.
2 Nights at Skukuza, 2 nights at Mopanie and then home (ya right), this would be the best way to end our yearly holiday. We ended up spending 2 additional nights in Satara, and taking the looong way out. I couldn't drag it out any more. (8 photos)

I was very impressed with my first visit to this Zoo in 20 years.
Every one I spoke to said that I was making a mistake and should go to the Pretoria Zoo instead. Upon asking, they too have been to this Zoo on average more than ten years ago. This was a delightful day, even on month end and on a Saturday, there were not crowds of people.... (full story) (8 photos)
