This was also taken at San Angelo State Park. On this particular day there seven male Cardinals all in this one area. They were fairly civil with each other except for the occasional sqauble over certain feeding areas. This bird managed to defend this stump for several minutes before flying off for some peace and quiet. It reminded me of the days as a kid when we would find a large pile of dirt and play king of the hill. The object being not to get knocked off the top by someone else, who then became King of the hill.

Hi Billy,
You must be proud of this picture! You caught this lovely bird in a very nice pose with good details and DOF. I also like the fact that he's almost isolated with no disturbing branches. This is a very nice capture of one of my preferred birds! Thanks,
Claudine

Hi Billy.
Once again very nice picture from you. I like the pictured scene so much. May be I would prefer a bit wider DOF. Bokeh (BG) is great as the main subject. My best wishes and TFS.

Hi Billy,

What a fantastic pose you have here. I have never seen them stay in one spot for more than seconds. He is beautiful - lovely colors and good details. What is that in his mouth??

Jane

Hello Billy,
The only nit one could be puzzled about is the depth of field, otherwise a very good image for example through the composition, perching, background, pose and so forth.

Hi Billy,

Very nice capture of the cardinal, beautiful vivid colours, great light in the eye, excellent blurry background, not distracting at all.Well done!

Hey Billy,
What a sharp and detailed catch of this Cardinal eating. Perfect DoF and PoV. Wish we had these beautiful birds here in Oregon. Guess we're stuck with our own beatutiful Stellars and Blue Jays.
A real beauty here...
Steve

Very kingly and gracefully shot Billy. Beautiful light, wonderful colours too and the seed in its bill makes it more personal... great shot as usual, superb background. Thank you for being here on TN,

Hi Billy
I envy you as I tried and tried to get one of these fellows last spring. The female was always knocking in my window, just to fly away as I approched them with the camera, never giving me the chance to get an image as good as this one.
Good shapness and colors.
Natural settings ensured by placing the feed inside the log.
Have a good day
Charles
