[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A tranquil beauty touches Rapide Croche early on an October morning. This spot is close to one of the 17 historic locks on Wisconsinís Lower Fox River. Although the lock system is slated for reopening, this will be the one exception. The lock was sealed 20 years ago and a permanent barrier constructed to keep sea lamprey and other invasive species from making their way from Lake Michigan to the Lower Fox and other inland waterways. I believe the French name, roughly rendered, refers to a crook in the river by the rapids.

You are right, Jim, Rapide Croche means a crooked rapids and I absolutely love your view, here, a beautiful landscape filled with serenity, the calm before winter. It is very well rendered, we almost feel the abandonment of nature to the fury to come. These landscapes fill me inside, as if I was made out of such nature. Thank you, it is beautiful.

Hi Jim!

From my point of view it's even more than simply tranquil, it's peaceful and a magnificient piece of nature. Maybe that the contrast is a bit harsh, but this doesn't change anything to the fact that it's very pleasant to look at.

Kind regards

Markus
