The Aerodynamic Gannet

Even the best flight engineers in the world could not design something superior to the aerodynamic gannet.

The gannet is not only perfectly adapted for flight it is also beautiful.

Each individual feather is streamlined, over lapping to form a perfectly smooth surface.

The feathers are light, just as their bones are, letting them float through the air on the edge of any wind.

Each individual feather has its own specific purpose but they work together to provide harmony and perfection in flight.

The gannets effortless grace and beauty is enchanting to watch.

The wing span of the gannet can reach an incredible 2 metres.

Excellent sharp focus in flight. This is definitely top drawer image with such sharpness and excellent details. Flawless framing from higher ground and you have managed the exposure really well. Awesome post and well done indeed, Janice.

Hi Janice!

The bird and the picture as well are superb. especially like the particular point of view that changes from the blue sky we often see. The details of the bird are magnificent and the picture highlights the aerodynamical aspect at best. Moreover, the lighting - certainly not easy with the contrasted colours - is perfect.

Kind regards

Markus

Süperrrrr bir fotoğaf Janice.Nefis bir bakış ve nefis bir çekim :)

Hello Janice,
Very long wings. I wasn't aware they were so long. Strange aspect ratio as the width is rather small. I agree it's not only aerodynamic (I think:) but it is also beautiful.
Thanks for sharing

Hy Janice
Yes, indeed, gannets and albatrosses are masters of flight! This picture shows perfect the caracteristic of this kind of birds: the big wings comparing with the body.

HI Janice,
it's a fantastic shot of this bird in flight.
I wonder how you made it from above ...
I would love to see these birds in free nature too, must be impressive, thanks and greetings

By the way, I also have an australien bird here today - but living here in Europe now.

A beautifully executed capture of this natural "planeur" from the best possible POV Janice, very detail revealing sharp take indeed against a blurry, darkish BG. It really has a very aerodynamic shape, except for that out-sticking left foot, I'm afraid...
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Janice,
Amazing photo, very good quality and sharpness, topping colors.

I salute Slawek.

Janice,

It has been a few days since I have visited my favorite New Zealand photographer, but I am glad I am back. I love this shot.

First, the POV is great. It is not often that we are able to see the top side of birds in flight.

The lighting and and DOF is just right to catch the full wingspan of the beautiful bird.

Since we don't see this guy where I live, I want to thank you for sharing with us.

Take care - bob

Yes, indeed a marvel, Janice!
Love the details, and the POV!
Cheers!
