MERHABA DOSTLARIM,
Again, I had a lengthy interval away from TN, busy with my cottage in Limanreis-Izmir, and couldn't follow your recent postings. Now, I'm back for a while, all ready for a retrospective viewing of your naturescapes, but first a new posting of mine, the small but colourful shell of a smallish member of the family Trochilidae, or Top Shells, usually flat based conical ones found in tropical and temperate seas. They possess a horny operculum and a nacreous interior, usually with dull coloured exteriors, inhabiting intertidal zones of supralittoral rocky shores. They feed on various algae covering the rocks.
The shell of the present species, an Emerald Top-shell (Monodonta canalifera), a denizen of western Pacific region, has a diameter of 2.5 cms. with flat spiral cords and a curved tooth projecting from the bottom of columella (hence the generic name Monodonta). The short, conical spire terminates with a rather blunt apex, seen at top-left. Inside of the apertural lip is white and strongly lirate, edge of which shows the colours of exterior, dark green, green and whitish cream spots, giving the shell a jewel encrusted Ottoman turban look!
This macro image was captured under diffused ambient daylight -open shade conditions- over a black background.

Hello Mehmet,
A fine portrait of a Emerald Top-shell taken from a great POV with good lighting and sharpness where focused against a contrasting dark BG.Best regards Siggi

merhaba hocam,

Merhaba Mehmet,
Welcome back! I hope the work on your cottage has not caused too much physical strain!
This is a fine portrait, up to your usual high standard, of this little Top Shell, the POV showing the pattern of green an white in a fine way. Green seems to be an unusual colour in molluscs, or is it because emeralds are rare in Ottoman turbans? :))
Thanks and have a good weekend,
Ivan

Kanallı Monodonta'dan güzel bir çekim Sayın Hoca. Elinize sağlık.

Hallo Mehmet
It is great to see a posting from you. Wonderful detail captured on the patterns and colours of this beautiful shell. It has a moodiness that surrounds it, why I do not know, but that is what I see, maybe it is the darker than usual colours of the shell. I am used to the pink, pearl and lighter colours on your subjects, but it does not take away any of your subject's beauty. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Mehmet bey merhaba,

Tebrikler.TFS

What a nice hobby you have Mehmet! I have the same desire to the shells from my childhood but unfortunately i don't have a chance to find so much different types from The Black sea shores! This Ottoman turban looked shell is great to find with that beautiful emerald toned colors and amazing shapes, and indeed look a like a jewel encrusted Ottoman turban on an Ottoman sultan! i always dreamed to live a coast of an ocean to find these beautiful shells. What do you think about the Turkish sea shores to find a vast selection of the shells? and the point that i am curious about is why don't you take photos of these beauties from the spot where did you find them on that gold sandy shores!

Greetings!
Ersin

Hi Mehmet
Thanks for welcome to TN.
This photo as, are the rest of your photos, is superb - you do have a bit of an interest in shells (I suspect a professional one?). Great lighting colour and presentation.
cheers
Ian

Hello Mehmet,
The entire collection of shells is excellent, the black background is perfect.

Lucja

nice and beautiful colours, greetings Ori

Merhaba Mehmet,
this shell is beautiful, I love the green colour so much. As usual excellent quality and a good dark BG. Pretty presentation, thanks.
Enjoy your day
Sabine - wishnugaruda

It is a greenish turquoise colour which certainly makes it stand out well against your usual backdrop. An educator uses similar backdrops so as not to confuse students. Good notion.

Hi Mehmet. This is beautiful in emerald colors. Very sharp image against the muted dark background. Excellent lenswork and love the composition. Kudos my friend and best regards - Jusni

Hello Mehmet!

Stunning colours for a snail. Love your presentation (the visual and the note), as I really like your entire shell photo collection.

Hi Mehmet.
Few days ago my granddaughter (6 years old) and me have watched your gallery. We have seen all your shots. She (as well as me) was amazed. This one is also exceptional. Colouration, shapes, texture are reflected outstandingly. POV, composition, illumination are perfect. Bravo and thanks for your work. Happy New Year and all the best to you and your family.
Alexei.

Hi Mehmet,

The macro point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the emerald-top-shell. The black background id putiing in evidence the shell. The surrounding light is enhancing the colors. have a nice day.
