[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi everyone, this is my first photograph here :) Nice to register into a new site.
This is a female (perhaps juvenile?) White-headed Duck (Oxyura leucocephala-TR:Dikkuyruk). It is found around Mediterranean and Central Asia. It is considered an Endangered species by IUCN Red List, for good cause. It suffers from habitat destruction, climate change and illegal hunting.
There is estimated to be a global population of roughly 8000-13,000 individuals. Once a lake in Turkey (called Lake Burdur) hosted almost %90 percent of the world population each winter, but now the birds have declined and they seem to be redistributing in the Middle East.
It is a rare breeder in my local patch and I was lucky enough to see 2 males and a female this week.
I know the background is a bit crowded, sorry about that.
Please give feedback, I love learning my mistakes :)
Cheers.

Welcome to TN,
I have never seen those beautiful ducks. The picture is superb with the water . I also like the very low pov making us very close to it. Wildlife always fascinate me!

Hello Kuzey,
What a great first appearance! And welcome on TN. Awesome start with this special duck in good sharpness, details and beautiful warm colours taken from a perfect low point of view. Nice reflection on the water too.
Excellent note! Indeed the background is a bit crowded, but that's no point at all.
I hope to see a lot more of these quality photos from you.
Regards,
Peter

I agree with the rest of my colleagues: Great debut, Kuzey !!! Elegant elongated composition. Wonderful color balance; spectacular visual game: the perfect reflection of the bird's head in the water; crisp on the main subject on the move; perfect exposure; very interesting your note further.

Excellent photograph of this Duck and reflection is really outstanding. I have tried to see this Photograph doing upside down and Duck looks almost same. Excellent reflection Kuzey! I like its warm color as well as sharpness. Ripples on water added a natural look.....good work.
