The European Robin (Erithacus rubecula), most commonly known in Anglophone Europe simply as the Robin, is a small insectivorous passerine bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family (Turdidae), but is now considered to be an Old World flycatcher (Muscicapidae). Around 12.514.0 cm (5.05.5 in) in length, the male and female are similar in colouration, with an orange breast and face lined with grey, brown upperparts and a whitish belly. It is found across Europe, east to Western Siberia and south to North Africa; it is sedentary in most of its range except the far north.

The term Robin is also applied to some unrelated birds with red or orange breasts. These include the American Robin (Turdus migratorius), which is a thrush, and the Australian red robins of the genus Petroica, which are more closely related to crows.

Beautiful capture of this Robin which is my favourite, Siegfried. Our Indian Robin is quite different in looks.
The light is perfect and I like that catch-light in the bird's eye.

Ciao Siggi, great capture of lovely bird in nice pose on beautiful blurry BG, fine details, splendid sharpness and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Siegfried,
Nice capture of a very small and lovely bird. Excellent focus. The colors are natural. Very rarely I meet this bird in my region. It is a shy bird and difficult to take a good shoot.

Hello Siggi,
A wonderful image of this pretty little European Robin. Captured from a nice below level POV and displaying beautiful well balanced colors. The catchlight in it's eye is always a special bonus. The exposure is great with no blown out areas. Well done!!
