These wild flowers caught my eye when out walking, they were growing the complete undergrowth in a local wooded area, the only colour in the area.

Very definatly NOT a wild flower, Chaenomeles 'Fire [email protected] or one of the other bright red members of the Japanese Quince family, the non hybrid one is a pale red , not this vibrant one.
I presume someone has dumped it there from their garden as it has to be propergated or grafted to come true, ether that or your piece of woodland was some ones garden at some point.
all of the above unfortunatly being true makes this possibly not a TN subject being a domestic / cultivated plant.

Yes...this is definitely a brighter orange than the original Chaenomeles.I have the darker one and it is a much darker colour.I do like these trees though.
