White Rhinoceros - Rhinocéros blanc (Ceratotherium simum)

Order - Ordre: Perissodactyla
Family - Famille: Rhinocerotidae
Genus - Genre: Ceratotherium

The rhinoceros is a herbivorous mammal whose weight can border the two tons. It can be 5 m long for 1,80 m height. It is the largest terrestrial mammal after the elephant.
The word rhinoceros comes from the Greek rhinos, nose, and keras, horn, because it carries one or two horns on the nose, and not on the face like the other horned mammals.
There are two species in Africa:
* the white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum),
* the black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis),
which has two horns.

Hi J. Patrick, another of your wonderful safari photos. You have done a good job on this old photo. The rhino is nice and sharp and the colours and details are superb! Well done.

Hi Jean Patrick,
Very good wildnature picture!
Great POV and composition.

That's a very good shot Jean Patrick. Good composition and perspective with very good framing through the plants in front. The scanning created a little lack of sharpness.. But very well done indeed!

Hi Jean Patrick!
You are master of African-desert mood. Another great photo from Africa. Great composition, brown, sandy tones looks great. And Rhinos aren't very popular on TN so big thanks for sharing!

Hi Jean Patrick,

What a grand picture, it lets me think of Africa of old, I think it is the yellow frame. I like your view and composition. TFS.
