Yet another mimetic fly. I do not know the species of this Hoverfly (Syrphid) but it is definitely a very good mimic for a bumble bee.
The picture was shot in Baxter State Park, on Meadowsweet (Spiraea alba)

Hi Philippe, very nice shot of this very good bumble bee mimic. As for the ID I am a little stuck. The Genus isn't Meroden but it is certainly of the Eristalini tribe. My next option was to look at Eristalis intricarius but I am not sure it comes in this colourform (although it is variable). But them I don't have any USA specific hoverfly information.

Hi Philippe,

Also known as the Bulb-fly, merodon equestris.
These are the bumble bee mimic come in a wide range of color forms, both the white tail and red tail.

Excellent capture and well done on the composion and details.
