Hello Ori,
I have only been to California once and am not familiar with this particular type of flowering shrub. It appears to be very dense, therefore I'm sure it would make a wonderful nesting site for smaller birds. This angle gives us a great view of the entire plant, it looks pretty large. Nicely focused and showing just the right exposure. TFS.
