Another view from our Romanian trip. Today's ice cave again. After climbed down to 50 meters deep hole I took fast look up. Amazing place! Spot of blue sky, then green mosses and plants, then real waterfall of ice and finally bottom of the hole full of never melting snow and ice. Border place between world of warmth and light and underground frozen one. It was great day full of fantastic places and feelings.

Scarisoara, cave sculptured in the Jurassic imestones, is situated at the South of Bihor Mountains (Apuseni Mountains), and shelter a glacier (with an area of almost 5550 m2 and a volume varying between 40000 and 55000 m3).

The entrance in the cave (at 1200 m altitude) is by a hole (48 m deep) which is linked with a by hall, circular, and by which is possible the access to the other halls.

It has galleries like Maxim Pop, Palatul Sanzienii (with beautiful limestone concretional forms), which connect the hall among them, as the Church, the New Church, the Cathedral s.o. Many hall have ice on the floor.

In the winter the air temperature from the cave has the same variations that the temperature around the entrance hole; in the summer the temperature is constantly under 0°C.

Beautiful scene. Good crisp color too. TFS

I would love to have the chance of visiting a frozen waterfall. I have never seen one in my life. This view is really strong, and I love the blues in the sky and the dark left side of the shot in contrast. Regards.

Greg, This is a very interesting shot. Looks like a "cool" place! ;-) I envy your travels..

Zamroziłeś! Zazwyczaj takie miejsca robione są na długich czasach. Tak też wygląda świetnie, nawet niebo dopisało. Pozdr. Al.

Very nice scene, with good lighting and composition

Stunning piture Greg! Well composed and very good details. POV is absolutely great and DOF is also very good. The dark part under the rock disturbs me a little bit, but nothing serious. Well done & TFS!

Pieter
