Good Evening!

I have been holding back my 50th posting until I had something a little different, I've also been away for a couple weeks hence my absence.

This action shot of the lions at Longleat fulfilled the criteria of something different. This was in the safari park section where you drive through the enclosures. These two were about 20 metres away and Mr Lion got an urge and pounced on Mrs Lion who promptly rolled and knocked him away. Poor guy!

The workshop shows the next frame. These were both at 300mm, ISO 250 and shot through the car window. In photoshop I cropped, adjusted the levels and contrast and then sharpened. No other PP done. I not completely happy about the slight hint of fence in the background but the lens was as open as possible. Perhaps the Sigma would have been better, however the VR of the Nikkor really helped when we were moving in the car, note: I was the passenger ;)

Decided on this Aesop title as it fits quite well with this photo. Read the Aesop tale about the Lion here.

So, 50 posts, seems to have flown by....I have thoroughly enjoyed been part of the TN community and have learnt loads over the past couple months, thank you for critiques and support. I hope I have improved since my first images!

Hi Simon

Congrats on your 50th post and its a superb shot to reach this milestone, wonderful pose and a great POV, nice detail and excellent colours, and a great caption too.

TFS Hilary :o)

Hi Simon,
A great action shot, caught in the right moment. The expression of the lions faces is really awesome. Splendid. Congratulations.

N.B. The workshop photo is as good as well.

Hi Simon,
You got a very good action shot here!
I like the use of the 300mm and the way you filled the frame with the scene.
The expression on Mr. is so impressive, as well as the Mrs. laying down.
My only nit would be that the fence at the back is slight visible...but I see you used the wider apperture that your lense lets you, so that's nothing else you can do with that POV.
Congratulations for this post and for your first 50's pictures here in TN.
Hope to see many more good things from you in the future.
Warm regards,

Olá Simon

Congratulations on your 50th, Simon, and welcome back. : )
This is a great action shot, as is your workshop. I like both.
Fantastic moment caught with sharp details and good light.
The POV is perfect, and the expression on the two lions are priceless. A picture is worth a thousand words, and these two images do a great job of telling the story. : )
TFS. : )

Hello Simon

Congratulations A very dramatic shot.Excellent capture,with sharp details.Great POV.TFS

Nice action pose... light and colour are good, slight shame about the wire in the background, though that could be "fixed" in PS if necessary. I like it.

salut Simon,
bon retour avec cette image en mouvement. Même si le 1/500 ne suffit pas a figer le mouvement, l'instant est bien capté, on perçoit parfaitement l'intention.
bien vu

Hi Simon

Quite indeed - a different shot for your 50th post! And what a magnificent one it is!
The dynamic here is impressive and the poses of the two are brilliant! The look on the male's face is just astounding and i must say i really love his eyes!
You managed to freeze the action well with only a 1/500. The natural colors are terrific and the exposure is well managed.
I really love the photo from the workshop, too. His ego seems to be a little damaged there :)))
All-in-all: congratulations, Simon, for such an impressive work so far in your first 50 posts. I strongly hope you'll have hundreds more here and you'll keep growing in quality just as you did until now!

Hi Simon welcome back and with a great complementing two shots well composed Good angle. Nice light for detail. The second shot is great too and the expressions tell it as your note. tfs rgds Necip

Hi Simon

Congratulations on your 50th posting! Great action shots. I felt sorry for her until I saw the workshop. Perfect timing capturing all the action but also with the male lion face on and with open eyes which gives real impact. I like the framing, it feels like we are really close to the action.

Perfect shot for your 50th. I can't wait to see the 100th shot

Both original and workshop are terrific action.

Hello Simon,
I love this capture....I think this guy is a bit aggressive to my liking but beautiful all the same. I wonder if he bought her a drink first? hahaha! Nice composition, color and clarity...the detail on the lions face with the growling expression is perfect!

Take care,
