Hello,

Armillaria mellea in the Bükk mountains, just near Kaszás-kút (Scytheman Well). It grows on dead tree, this time on this bench. It was very interesting to look at.

Otherwise, without cooking this mushroom's poisonous, but it's eaten by a lot of people on Earth (of course after cooking).

Note update, much later: finally I've managed to identify this species. It's Armillaria cepistipes, not A. mellea as I thought before.

Hi laszlo,
Another great bunch of fungi.
Plenty of light this time to shoot 'au naturel'.
THe flakey brown caps of these remind me of our Hypholoma brunnem which I find in the beech forest near here.

I like the focal point and the DOF is very gentle so as to show some background. Nice!

We got plenty of those this year in the forests of my city (Baia Mare - Nagybánya). I'll have enough canned for all winter and probably spring.
The composition looks great with the three mushrooms offcentered on left, really catching the viewer's eye.

Hi Laszlo - good to see you here too.
This is where I learnt all about how to take photos, etc.. I am so grateful to the older TN members for their patience and kind words helping and making suggestions on how to improve. I have got better (and I really needed to) because of them.

I like how this fungi is attached to the tree trunk. And the BG is great - it is blurred, but we can still see what it is like.

You must be busy now with all the fungi growing this autumn. Looking at your gallery you have some excellent photos.

Hi Laszlo,

a question about this photo: which was the altitude of the area?
I ask you this because the specimens seems a little strange as Armillaria mellea (not Armillariella).
Armillaria mellea has scales on the cap less evident and ring on the stem always with yellow colour near the edge.

Your photo maybe show Armillaria ostoyae, with brown colour on the ring, dark scale and habitat above 1000 meters of altitude on coniferous wood, when Armillaria mellea is very, very rare.
