[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A rare species in Portugal.
I only se it twice in my region.
It belongs to the Nymphalidae Melitaeinae Melitaeini.
The food plants of their caterpillars are Plantago, Centaurea and Veronica.
Known in english as Glanville Fritillary. In portuguese doesn’t have a common name yet.
It is one of the first species flying on spring in Portugal and we can see it fly from May to June.
The wingspan on males is 38 - 46mm and on females from 44 - 52mm.

Hello Paulo,
today you show the next beautiful picture of a Melitaea species.
Almost the entire speciemen is included in tthe depth of field.
Only the right wing tip is a bit out of focus.
Background design, colours and light are well balanced.
Best wishes, Peter

Great image, Paulo Henrique , for which you deserve to be congratulated.
Excellent POV, sharpness, details and colours.
Well done and TFS.

Paulo, mucho realismo y gran naturalidad en los colores en tu toma. Increíble el parecido de algunas especies...
Buen encuadre y luz. Una toma sencilla y muy bien realizada, además, ideal para su correcta identificación.

Hello Paulo,
very precise and well approached capture of Melitaea cinxia, well lighted in pleasantly soft light.
I like the very good isolation from a well supporting distant background, with just a few edges of petals visible below.
Thank you! With best regards,
