Corades chirone (Satyrinae)

The genus Corades is exclusively South American and contrary to other Andean satyrids, it has no representatives in Central America. Corades are cloud forest butterflies easily recognised in the field by every lepidopterist by their elegant tailed hindwings and fast flight. The genus occur from about 1400m to around 3500m but is most diverse at 2400-2800m. Some species can be fairly common in the rigth biotope and sometimes gather in large number on mud or bait. Other species are solitary and unpredictable and some are exceedingly rare. The males of Corades are powerful flyers and some species are territorial.

Hola Carlos,

I think that is the first Corades species at TN!
You show the species well-focused and with high sharpness.
Why did you crop so close? A little more space below, above and to the left
of the butterfly would have improved the general composition, in my opinion.
But nevertheless, I like to see a specimen of this neotropical Satyridae species.
I included the picture in my Satyrinae Theme no. 2 which is now also complete with 100 pictures maximum.
