You were thinking how it is possible penguins are not cold in almost freezing Antarctic water? I think this photo explain quite well why they are't get cold. Their feather are like latex swimming suit, single feathers are like tiles one is covering another, all water is going out from a bird like from a best diving foam. Feeding in a water is sometimes quite long so this kind of protection is just indispensable. This Adele Penguin is just after feeding time, landing on a shore next to his rookery.

What a fantastic shot, Piotr.
It is not often that we get to see these birds in the wild,
and it is also unusual to see them in a swimming pose,
as opposed to the classic waddling stance.
Fantastic details and colors.

I love the pose, the composition, and the detail. He is slick (no wonder) and he is somewhat focused on you as he attempts, dressed in his tux, to make it to land. Great lighting, lack of noise, and great details as I mentioned earlier.
