Hi James, it is wonderful to see this classic shot of a Seal lounging afloat and clearly having a good time. I don't think it matters about the lighting, the main focus is on the Seal and it is both charming and delightful, one can see that he/she is having a great and relaxed time. I like it.

Hi James,
Very interesting capture of this l. seal!
I like the low POV and the reflections on the water, it creates a very special mood for the scene with all that algae floating on the surface.
Well done and thanks for share it with us.
My best regards,
JM

Hi James
I think you chose well. The seal here is the subject and it should be exposed well, not the water around it. As for the merging photos...i find it too much of a trouble...one photograph should be enough to show the beauty of a scene, right?
How nice of the boatman to take you on that special detour :) And it was definitely worth it!
You got an exceptional close-up, with impeccable sharpness, despite the very long focal length.
The pose you managed to capture here is excellent, too!
Great job!
Bravo and TFS

I am amazed at the quality of shots you get with that heavy lens and converter. We have the same combination and always use it on a tripod. I suppose my husband could manage it but I sure couldn't. I do love the expression you captured on this fellow. .. the picture of contentment.

Hello James,
Wonderful captured of this joyful Seal and you see how he enjoyed so much with the closing eyes!
I think the water light does not matter much because the main subject is on the Seal itself also in good clarity!
to me it's a good photo well seen
thanks for sharing

Hi James.
This is delightful, he looks so content.
Wonderful image with great sharpness and detail.
That was neat of the boatman to think of you and go that way for you to do photos.
Great shot,
Kathleen

And they do tend to lounge do they not James. Born to eat and lunge both in sun and water. How multi talented in it's relaxation techniques. Nice spot on picture with a bit longer lens. Very aptly put in notes.

What a great pose! I have a dog who gets into crazy position that are obviously comfortable.
It's a wonderful look into the behavior of these animals...and it's cute! ;)

Hello James,
another fine capture, this time of a splendid waterbathing seal. Just great to see the expression on the face of the seal. I wonder whether another crop might work out in a better way. The space without reflection of the seal in front doesn't add to the picture. Instead, I might have left some more space avove and left of the seal. Anyway, some good work on the rocky shores of skye (I saw many seals just out on the shore of the Southern part of th eBlack Cuillins).
Regards,
Jacob

Hello James
A very relaxed scene of this seal enjoying life.
The shot is well composed with a very good POV and DOF.
The focus is very good showing good detail of a seal in it's natural element.
Well done.

Cute face and nice pose.
Very unique pic, because of resting in water and because of the algua.
Brilliant.
