This one is dedicated to Bayram Gocmen and his students who all love reptiles :-)
I hope one of them will be able to help me I.D. this too... I think it's a Wall Lizard but I'm not sure.

This is my first wild reptile on TN too and was once again taken in France :-)

The common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis) is a species of lizard with a large distribution in Europe and well-established introduced populations in North America, where it is also called the European wall lizard. It can grow to about 20 cm in total length.

The common wall lizard is a small, thin lizard whose small scales are highly variable in color and pattern. Its coloration is generally brownish or greyish, and may occasionally be tinged with green. In some individuals the row of spots along their back may form a line, while others may have a reticulated pattern with dark spots on the side and scattered white spots that can be blue in the shoulder region. The tail is brown, grey or rust in colour, and may also have light bars on the sides. The belly region has 6 rows of larger rectangular scales that are generally reddish, pink, or orangish. Common wall lizards may also have dark markings on the throat.

The natural range spans mainland Europe, including central Spain, southern Belgium, and the Netherlands. It occurs as introduced populations in southern Britain, and also in North America.

The common wall lizard prefers rocky environments, including urban settings where it can scurry between rock, rubble, debris and buildings.

Hi Joe,
Wonderful colour and clarity (as usual) in this lizard shot. Doesn't France have some beauties? I used to have Green Lizards and a Jacksons Chamaeleon that someone at boarding school brought me back from Nice.
The patterns on this one are so stark ... really cool.
Had a bit of a practice with the Raynox today but haven't quite got it right yet.
Ended up shooting the Spoonbill in the lagoon in the end. I'll keep at it though.

Brilliant my good young friend. I was thinking of Bayram last night and remarking to Jane who much we love his website. he is a genuine hero for me in his field and a dedication to him seems certainly fitting at very least.

You certainly didn't waste any of your vacation time on amsuement rides, or tanning on the beach with the young women...you had that camera with you and ready for a go right off...man oh man Joey...You are one dedicated guy. You remind me so much of myself at that age..I always had a camera at the ready. And this work shows you also carried your talent with you and an open eye as well as a plan to learn...and now to pass that one..VERY cool Joey. One day many people will look up to you with a great amount of respect...even more than now!:-)

A realy superb macro/portait shot with great details on the head scalation of a female Common Wall Lizard (Podarcis muralis brogniardi). Also you captured it in a cute facial expression. Very nice capture and very good dedication to our our herpetologists from Cyprus!
I like this close-up because of sharpness, colours and very nice DOF. The rock (?) in the front of lizard is out of focus, but the main object - a reptile, is very well presented.

Hello Joe,
Its scales are definitely variable in color and pattern compared to similar species. However I'm not a highly trained ninja in these matters. I guess Bayram is the man here and of course there a lot of other lizard
experts here. I was a bit surprised to hear it occurs in Belgium.
Pity I live in the northern part. Belgium is such a big country:-).
