This beautiful lizard orchid was taken in the Mainz Sands nature reserve, near the town of mainz, not far from Frankfurt AM. A few dozens were found. This is the commonest species in its genus. |

Good shot! You've captured this lizard orchid well, although I think a fraction more DOF would have been ideal to maintain sharpness across the entire "tails" - that said I think you've done very well, I remember shooting these a few years ago, and I don't think I did such a good job. I particularly like the background/foreground separation here. I'd actually forgotten about these, I wonder whether the sites in the UK have finished yet, or whether I might see some still if I'm quick... I'm not sure, but I think I'd have called it Himantoglossum (no H). This shot seems to have avoided the haloes you had previously - good work! Nicely captured :-D
Well captured with good exposure and DOF.

Very nice photo of my favorite orchid. Nice composition, sharpness and colors. If I was in France in La Rochelle, I found this species along motorway in big number together with Anacamptis pyramidalis and five other orchid species. There were orchids mulched and destroyed near road :-(
