The picture shows a male of the Scarce Copper
- Lycaena virgaureae
- family: Lycaenidae

Species information
The species is well known at TN. So, I do not want to repeat the informations supplied by others. Therefere, here only some condensed data:

- Distribution: Europe, Middle-Asia to Mongolia.
- Wing span: about 30 mm
- Foodplant of the caterpillar: Rumex acetosa

Location
A humid and flower-rich open grass-land at about 1700 m, close to the Kornigl-Mountain, Ulten-Valley, North-Italien Alps. Besides numerous L. virgaureae many other butterlies were present here, such as fritillaries and some Erebia-species (euryale, pronoe, epiphron). It was a very attractive area for taking pictures of butterflies and other insects.

Farbenfrohes unf feines Dukatenfalterbild, das ich irgendwie verpasst habe.
Die Bildschärfe ist perfekt, die Farben sind sehr gefällig und harmonisch.
