Red-Headed Trogon (Male)
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
(Harpactes erythrocephalus) 红头咬鹃
Location: Fraser’s Hill (Pahang)
Note for diagnostic red head of the male, female has brown head.
5 or more mellow notes tiaup, tiaup.
This trogon is restricted to montane rainforest. It occurs from 400 – 1900m. Like other members of this family; it sits quietly at the middle storey level or slightly lower in primary rainforest, and shifts quickly to another perch when disturbed. It hawks for insects among the trees, but this is rarely observed.
Fairly common in Malaysia.

and yet another perfect presentation of a colorful bird in natural surroundings
Another beautiful species from your lens. Nice PoV, scraping the bird out of the tree leaves. Love the ruby eyes.
what a bird?! might be fairly common in Malaysia, but absolutely new to me! am definitely going to visit Malaysia for birding someday. can't take this torture anymore... :)
