CACYREUS MARSHALLI

Geranium Bronze
Brun des pélarganiums
Pelargonien-Bläuling

Family: Lycaenidae
Subfamily: Polyommatinae
Wingspan: 26-30mm
Habitat: gardens, flowery meadows

The species is native of South Africa. It has, however, been introduced (deliberately or accidentally) to Mediterranean Europe (initially the Balaeric Islands), where it has spread as a pest of cultivated Pelargonium geraniums, which also originate in South Africa. It was first recorded in the United Kingdom in Sussex in 1997 (also on geranium)(Wikipedia)

I have seen this species in Provence where it seems to be present since about 1997.

Hello Anne,
This is really a beauty....What I like most are the fantastic white-grey colors of the body and wings of this interesting butterfly specie. As usual a perfect focus and WB. Superb.....Another masterpiece from close range with excellent clarity and fantastic sharp details.

Liebe Anne.

Peter
