[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a photo of a Red-eyed Treefrog (Agalychnis callidryas). These frogs are probably one of the most commonly photographed amphibians for calendars, posters, etc because they are so photogenic and colorful.
I was shooting some pics of captive Red-eyeds last weekend and decided to get some non-standard shots as well.
This frog is sleeping on a pane of plexiglass. This species is extraordinarily colorful with bright green bodies, blue sides and legs and orange feet along with their bright red eyes (see http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v689/charrison/Amphibians/redeye.jpg for a more typical pose). During the day, they sleep by closing their eyes and folding their legs under themselves as seen here. When sleeping the only color visible is the light green back. It is a startling transformation when they "wake up".

I had to use the clone tool to remove some water spots from the plexiglass. The plexiglass was held by a friend wearing a black T-shirt to give a black background.

Actually I have never seen this perspective :-). The image is sharp and clean and the composition is simple but fanciful.

Hi Chris,
Great idea. This is a site of the frog you don't see that often. When I saw the tumbnail, I wasn't really sure what to expect, but this is a pleasant surprice. Good color, good black b/g.
