Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosasinensis or Kokoi)

I am not 100% sure on the species. I hope someone with the knowledge could set me straight.

Hibiscus is native to Tanzania. (Also Kenya Mozambique, China, India, Hawaii and Indonesia.) Blooming spring to autumn, hibiscus are available in a wide array of flower forms and colors including red, pink, purple, blue, white and yellow. Stamens are sometimes long and colorful. (flowers on some varieties can be as large as a dinner plate) Hibiscus loves long, hot summers, rich soil and good drainage.

I found this specimen in the Morogoro region, close to a sugarcane farm. What is amazing is that this flower was blooming in the midst of their winter. The temperatures varies +\- 5 degrees for summer to winter. I guess living close to the equator has its benefits. I was told that the first flowers to appear amongst the herds in the Ngorongoro crater are Hibiscuses.

Da placer observar este tipo de capturas Gerhard... no son habituales aun en TN.
Excelentes colores... no es fácil captar tonos tan extremos sin distorsion.
Muy buen encuadre y profundidad.
10 puntos por la imagen y la nota.

Some bad news for you Gerhard Lucky for you the name is I think Wrong, this is because the rosa-sinensis bit of the name means it come from China and is pink. But I think it is more probabley Hibiscus moscheutos which as far as I can tell is from "your neck of the woods" (where you live).
Very nice sharp image .

Excellent DOF and the colors are vivid. This truly a beautiful flower and your capture does it justice. Thanks for posting.

Very nice one, Gerhard, almost has a bit of a painterly feel to it. The centric position of the blossom was very much called for, and I love how clearly it stands out in color against the surrounding greens. Good sharpness, fine capture.

Very nice Gerhard
