|Death Valley is a valley in California, and is the location of the lowest elevation in North America at -282 feet (-86 meters). Dante's View, at 5,475 feet at the crest of the Black Mountains, is one of the most famous photographic spots in Death Valley. Dante's looks almost straight down on the lowest point in North America, Badwater, and across the sparkling salt flats of Death Valley to Telescope Peak in the Panamints and the Sierra Mountains 100 miles to the west.
