I am back after a short stay at my native place. The fervour of 'Dusshera' was high on the air and the mind was in a gay and festive mood. And for once, TN did take a backstage. Though my stay was not as productive as far as clicking goes, I gave myself that much more space to think fresh and be ready for the winter months ahead, when it is the best of times in India for moving out for photographic sojourns.

I present today a Jewel Bug, enjoying the morning sunshine on a palm leaf. Shot taken hand-held.

Scutelleridae are otherwise known as shield-backed bugs, a reference to the fact that their shield is continuous, not divided. Because bugs in this family are usually brightly colored, they are also known as Jewel bugs. These insects feed on plant juices, and are closely related to stink bugs.

Crop on the left and top side, add space on right side and clone the leaf in the new space...
In hope to be useful ;-)
