|I spent the morning in the forest today it was warm but no sun. The Greenfinches were about but would only come down when all the other birds had gone. Then it would take a few attempts before they would land. We do have them in the garden at home but i have not been able to get a picture this year. |
Greenfinch ( Carduelis chloris ) Length 14-15cm. Widespread throughout most of mainland Britain and Ireland but scarce in North and central Scotland. A familiar Bird of gardens, parks and farmland but absent from many wooded and upland areas. In full breeding plummage the Male is very bright yellow/green but for most of the year colours are duller, they have yellow wing patches and pinkish conical bill. Used for feeding on seeds.
