Orb Weaving Spider
This spider is making a meal of a walking stick(phasmatodea). It back reminds me of an African tribal mask thus the title. If anyone knows of a good website for identifying spiders I'd appreciate a link. Also, if anyone know which orb weaving spider this one is, I'd appreciate the ID.
I missed a good shot of this guy the other night when we returned home. I quickly shot a few pictures with a point and shoot then I went to get my tripod and big camera. When I returned my wife had already swept the web clean with the broom...;-( Fortunately the spider came back and let me get a shot I liked. Hopefully you will like it too. I posted the original uncropped picture as a workshop.
I started to take the picture with my camera on a tripod with remote, but my remote gets in the way of the flash, so I just shot it hand held.
Anyhow taking the picture was fun. I'm glad I took the time. I need to do that more often.
I hope you all enjoy.

Kind regards,

Dave

This is the original showing the whole phasmatodea the spider is having as a meal.
