Sandsmannen & Hov (30)
|My previous photo was taken near the mountain range on the left and showed the island where I took this photo. This photo was actually taken while on my first location scout and thus taken at daytime. |
I was driving along this single track road to see if there was a good location for a sunset composition. When I stopped for a snack break I found this good outcrop of rocks touching the crystal clear blue water. I decided to venture out over these rock and get as close to the sea as I dare to do. I quickly found a spot that had a good view on Vestvågøy with the Sandsmannen mountain range and the solitary mountain called Hov.
As the bright daylight wasn't very for a standard exposure I decided to use my 10 stop ND filter and go for an ultra long exposure. The total time of exposure for this photo was 80 seconds. It was just enough to get most details in shadows and to keep the white snow from overexposure. It also gave the sea a softness I was looking for.
