Thomisus onustus is a crab spider belonging to the the family Thomisidae. Crab spiders do not built webs, but they rather sit on flowers waiting for prey to visit. They are coloured either white or yellow, adapting to the colour of the flower they are sitting on.

Thomisus onustus has a Palearctic distribution found in most of Europe except for the extreme north.

The species shows great differences in size between the large female and the much smaller male. Indeed in the photograph I think one can see the small male attached to the backside of the female. A larger image is shown in the workshop.

Today I celebrate one year on Treknature. I have learned much and enjoyed many interesting photographs, from many parts of the world, for which I thank you.

Here, I think, may be the male of the species, which is about 2 mm long.
