i took this photograph on last Saturday, i.e., almost three days back.. in the Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary.. under harsh and direct sunlight [just the fact].

i didn't notice the bird at first. it was its call which had attracted me. a new one and sweet. not had heard before. i searched for its source, and found this blue bird! the bird was at far and in shade. after further examination, i realized it was a Drongo. but then, why blue?! it was not the sunlight, of course. the bird, as i had said, was in shade then.

i studied the bird for almost 20 minutes. it was continuously moving. hopping from one Mango tree to another. two of them were there. no doubt, absolutely blue! later i saw a nest. most probably, the bird had laid eggs in that. both the birds were very concerned and protective about that nest, and one bird was frequently sitting in it with wings stretched.

am curious. what kind of Drongo is this?

and sorry for the poor quality of the photograph. this much only i could manage under circumstances. the bird was at far, quite restless and the sunlight was harsh.

thank you Nigel (Merlin) for helping me with the ID of this (blue) Drongo. it's always nice to see a new bird and to learn new things about birds! :)
Nigel and George, both of your workshops show mine one (original) was so poor in sharpness :(
but at least, your workshops have tried to do justice [out of my poor shot] to the beauty of the bird. am happy for that. :)

Adding yellow, increasing contrast and saturation selectively!

In Photoshop CS5, I adjusted brightness and contrast to counteract the haze effect, then applied unsharp mask at pixels 0.3, 120%.
