It is a diving duck, very common in Europe, the largest populations living in Eastern Europe.
The interesting feature of this species is that the male takes during the breeding season different colors and obviously much brighter than the rest of the year. The head gets very warm brown, while the plumage of the back becomes light gray with finely drawn geometric patterns that I find almost hypnotic.
For documentary purpose I put a zoom of the plumage in the workshop for those interested.

About the technique, the framing is a bit too offset because I wanted to keep the concentric circles that the duck had made in water. I was too concentrated on the plumage of the back and the head is a little outside the zone of sharpness.
